UD ARENA IMPROVEMENTS

Opened in 1969, the 46-year old UD Arena has served the university well over the years.  However, to position the arena to effectively serve the UD community for the next 30 to 40 years, there is a need to make improvements to meet current codes, address deferred maintenance issues, improve technology, enhance the fan’s game-day experience and continue to serve as an important resource in supporting the financial operations of the UD athletics program.

UD Arena improvements could include:
·  Providing accommodations for disabled patrons;
·
Replacement of arena seating;
·
Increasing the number of restrooms;
·  Increasing the number of concession points of sale;
·  Improving crowd flow and relieving congestion points;
·  Upgrade lighting;
·  Add air conditioning;
·  New state-of-the-art center hung scoreboard;
·  Adding an interior lobby with more convenient ticket windows and merchandise store;
·  Adding new seating options and club lounge; and,
·  Aesthetic improvements to arena’s exterior façade.

ARENA SEATING PROGRAM (ASP)

Q55 All seats in the lower seating bowl in the 100’s and 200’s seating sections are part of the Arena Seating Program (ASP).  These seats require an annual tax deductible donation per seat in addition to the cost of season tickets.  The donation amount per seat depends on seat location.  These seats are generally sold out or have a high sell-through rate.   If seats in the lower seating bowl became available to you, how interested would you be in upgrading your current seat location and making a tax-deductible donation to purchasing prime seats in the lower seating bowl of UD Arena?
It is envisioned that the game-day experience for Arena Seat Program (ASP) seat holders will be greatly enhanced in a renovated UD Arena (lower bowl 100’s and 200’s sections).  Improvements would include new seats, improved crowd circulation/flow, access to more restrooms and improved concession offerings, improved lighting, and state-of-the-art center hung scoreboard, among other improvements.

LEASE TERMS

Q68 Premium seating leases may be offered for 3, 5 or 10 year terms, payable annually.  A common incentive for signing a longer lease is a lower annual price increase for seating. For example, a ten-year lease could include 3% annual price increases, a five-year lease could include 4% annual price increase and a three-year lease could include 5% annual price increases.  Recognizing that lower annual price increases would be associated with longer lease terms, which lease term would you likely choose?
Q69 Would you pay the total amount of your premium seating lease payments upfront if it was based on fixed annual price in order to avoid future annual price increases through the term of your lease?

ARENA ASSOCIATES PROGRAM

The Arena Associates program was established to help provide funding for the original construction of UD Arena.  The Arena Associates program applied to some of the best seats in UD Arena and required a one-time capital seat gift with the proceeds going directly towards arena construction costs.

It is possible that the Arena Associates program could be re-instituted to help fund renovation improvements to UD Arena in order to extend its useful life.  The new Arena Associates program would require a one-time capital seat gift donation (payable over five years) to guarantee your lower level or premium seats (e.g. ASP seat, club seat, loge box, terrace suite, luxury suites) in UD Arena as long as you continue to renew the premium seat/suite and pay the annual seat donation requirement.
Q70 If an Arena Associates program donation equal to your annual required seat donation were required to purchase premium or lower level seating in a renovated UD Arena, how would you characterize the impact it would have on your decision to purchase premium or lower level seating?

RESTRICTION-FREE OPEN TRANSFER

Q71 Currently men’s basketball season ticket holders are allowed to transfer their season tickets to immediate family and legitimate business partners.  Many season ticket holders share their seats or the cost of their seats among other parties that would not fit the current transfer parties.  Would you be interested in making a one-time contribution to the Arena improvements in order to have the opportunity to initiate a restriction-free open transfer?

PHILANTHROPIC SUPPORT

Q72 A variety of donor recognition opportunities may become available to facilitate the implementation of renovations to UD Arena.  Would you consider making a philanthropic donation support renovations to UD Arena to extend its useable life and enhance the game-day experience for Flyers basketball fans?
Q73 What level of contribution would you consider to support the development of an improved basketball facilities and have an area of the arena named after an individual donor, family or corporation?  These contributions could be pledged and paid over a five-year period.

*Donor recognition values are based on what has been charged at other arenas, and do not necessarily reflect pricing at Dayton*
Q74 How likely is it that you would actually make a capital donation towards the project for an individual donor, family or corporation?
Q75

Thank you for your participation. We truly value your opinions and feedback.
